Different Ways of Editing Your Images
Friday 24 July at Connect Church
For many photographers, “getting it right in camera” is only the beginning of the creative process. Post-production can help us refine an image, strengthen its message and bring it closer to what we imagined when we pressed the shutter.
This Friday, three AppFrod members will demonstrate very different approaches to editing photographs.
Stewart Wall — An Introduction to Lightroom
Adobe Lightroom combines image organisation with powerful editing tools. Stewart will demonstrate how to import photographs, add keywords so they can be found easily in the future, and use ratings to help select the strongest images.
He will also show how Lightroom can save considerable time when editing a large number of photographs, allowing adjustments to be applied consistently across a complete set of images.
He will also show some creative editing methods and how to export your images for different image size requirements.
Andrew Bullen — FastStone Image Viewer
FastStone Image Viewer is a free and remarkably quick piece of software for viewing, organising and editing photographs.
Andrew will demonstrate how he uses FastStone as part of his own workflow to prepare and enhance his images.
Mick Barwick — Photoshop Composites
Many of the photographs we see are not quite as they first appeared through the camera. By combining several photographs or introducing new elements, photographers can create images that exist first in their imagination.
Mick will demonstrate his skills in Adobe Photoshop and show how he creates photographic composites that transform his original photographs into something new.
This is the first AppFrod session exploring post-production as part of the photographic creative process. Whether you prefer subtle adjustments, fast and straightforward editing, or imaginative Photoshop composites, the session is designed to provide ideas and techniques that can help you enhance your own photography.

Looking Ahead
On Saturday 25th July we are heading over to Winterton to photograph the Kite Festival.

Mick has suggested meeting in the Affrod Bowls club car park at 10am and then heading over in convoy.

After Winterton, there is also the Steam Rally at Humber Bridge Garden Centre. We can talk more at tomorrow’s meeting.

On Friday 31 July, we will meet at Silica Lodge Garden Centre at 10.00am for a photographic walk around the landscape and lakes, before heading back to the garden centre for lunch.
Thank you to everyone who has booked to come. Now I know numbers I will see about booking a table and will confirm parking arrangements.
This will be our first session exploring August’s theme of Landscape and Natural History – click here for more details
